All About the Jeep Truck to Release in 2019

Jeep hasn’t released a pickup truck for 26 years. We’ve been waiting with bated breath since the Comanche was taken off the market in 1992. Throughout the drought, Jeep has teased a lot of concept trucks. Finally, they’re ready to release a new Jeep truck and we can’t wait to drive it. Quite frankly, it’s a huge understatement to say we’re stoked for the 2019 Jeep truck, so let’s take a look at everything we know about it so far.

There Are Only Spy Photos So Far

So far, we don’t have any official pictures of the 2019 Jeep truck. All we have is a few spy photos and digital renderings to give us an idea of how this widely-anticipated model will look. There are rumors going around that we’ll get an actual debut later this year. Only seeing these spy photos is making us anxious to see the real thing!

It’s Based on the JL Wrangler

We saw many improvements to the Wrangler in the 2018 model, which bodes well for the new Jeep pickup truck. It’ll essentially be a longer version of the Wrangler Unlimited platform. This means it’ll have a lightweight aluminum body, a sleek interior, and impressive UConnect capabilities. It’ll also come with Chrysler’s standard Pentastar 3.6L V6, which comes with 285-hp. The new truck may come with a diesel V6 option later on. If you’ve been itching for a Wrangler pickup, then this will be the perfect truck for you.

A Wrangler Truck Is a Long Time Coming

We’ve been expecting a Wrangler pickup since 2005. That year, Jeep released a Gladiator Concept, which was a pickup design of the JK Wrangler. The first hints of a JL-based truck started in September 2015 and we’re so excited it’s finally coming to fruition. While we wish we didn’t have to wait this long, we’re thankful we’re getting a truck with the JL improvements.

Production Is Slated for Late 2019

If you’ve been keeping up with Jeep truck news for the past few years, you’ll remember that Mike Manley, Jeep CEO, said a pickup was coming in late 2017. That date was delayed because the folks at Jeep want to make sure everything is okay with the standard Wrangler before the pickup is rolled out.

We Might Know the Name

It was previously believed that the truck would simply be called a Wrangler pickup. However, rumor has it that Jeep is digging a classic name out of its archives for this special release. We believe the truck will be called the Scrambler, a name that hasn’t been used since the CJ-8.

This is all the information we know about the long-awaited Jeep truck for now, but we’ll keep you updated as we learn more. If you’re as excited as we are, then you’re waiting to hear updates on this thing every day. Stay up to date on Jeep truck news with our blog.
